Chuck Harnack stands in his workshop’s vault in Downtown Columbus, Ohio, Sept. 5, 2023. The secured room is near his office and holds thousands of ancient artifacts. Pad locks, sirens, and safes keep this room and the stuff in it safe. Some relics from his collection date back to 3000 B.C. and a few are older than that. Chuck has fragments of historical events from all over the world. Dinosaur skeletons, a jade emperor burial suit, hundreds of Chimú whistling vessels, and other historical items are laying around this room. He has been collecting since he was little and has never stopped. The vault is too small for his collection, and he now keeps some of it in his house. The furniture business helps pay for his hobby or what he calls, “bad habits.”
